2 Samuel 11
1. The Compromise towards Sin:
Compromising our responsibilities and standards begins a slow fade on the path towards a life of sin.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humanity. God is faithful and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape, so that you are able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
2. The Choice to Sin:
Sin is a choice for which we are personally responsible.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires. And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons of unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness. Romans 6:12-13
3. The Cover-up of Sin:
Denial and shame drive us to legitimize, justify, and hide our sin.
The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces then will find mercy. Proverbs 28:13
4. The Callous of Sin:
Unrepentant sin leads to a heart hard towards God and others.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26
5. The Conclusion of Sin. . . Or is it?
We cannot hide our sin from God.
No creature is hidden from Him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give an account. Hebrew 4:13
