It’s All About Grace

For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 1 Corinthians 15:9–10

Grace is amazing.  It's a gift.  We don't deserve it but God gives it.  It's His unmerited. favor.  In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul is declaring the truth of the resurrection and giving a detailed account to the eyewitness testimony.  He is overwhelmed by the fact that in God's grace, He too was an eyewitness of the Risen Lord Jesus.  Then He teaches us about Grace:

Grace covers our sins!

Paul oversaw with delight as the first Christian died for his faith.  Paul vehemently fought to arrest, even kill Christians to put an end to the gospel. That is until Grace intervened on the road to Damascus.  Paul is evidence that God's grace is sufficient to cover our sin no matter how ugly it is!

Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Psalm 32:1

Grace changes us!

Paul says I am not who I used to be!  Christian, you are not who you used to be!  God is changing you and isn't giving up!  He is molding you into the image of HIs Son Jesus!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Grace compels and empowers us to keep working!

Paul worked hard.  But his desire and ability to work was actually a work of God's grace!  Without God's grace, we don't want to work for God nor do we have the power to work for God.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Philippians 2:12–13

L:ord God, thank you for the grace that covers all of our sin!  Thank you for the grace that changes us and transforms us into the image of Your Son Jesus!  Give us more grace so that we have a greater desire and ability to be all that You have called us to be!
