We Are Accountable – Romans 2:11-15

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, Hebrews 9:27

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. 2 Corinthians 5:10

And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13

I. Some are accountable for disobeying God’s written commandments.

The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant. Isaiah 24:5

II. All are accountable for disobeying their conscience.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. Titus 1:15

. . . through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 1 Timothy 4:2

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:22

Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. Hebrews 13:18

III. We will either be condemned or covered by the righteousness of Christ Jesus.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. John 3:16–18
